Thorin Belt Buckle

So if your like me and at the sight of seeing Thorins belt buckel and fancy dreads you just had to make them but not sure where to start I am hear to help.
For this project you will need

Baking paper
Alfoil
Polymer clay
Acrylic paint
Varnish, Dont use nail varnish as I ended up doing I have descovered it reacts badly with the clay. So I will be making a second one shortly.

Also alternativly to painting it you can use already coloured clay which I've seen in metallic and would be awesome.

So what I did was pull up a copy of his belt on my computer and trace it onto my baking paper using my computer monitor, you could also print it if you feeling flash.

I then layed my image on top of my rolled out clay and pressed down lightly on the corners. When you remove your paper you should see the little dents to cut out your belt.

Next cut out your main dimond shape using the points you have just made.

The smaller details are mostly little rectangles which I eye balled and cut out, and placed.

Note: When you are attaching the clay make sure you smooth it out a little on the joints so it doesnt fall apart when baked.

Now just bake per the instructions on your clay and paint when cool (if needed)

And there your done, now glue that to your belt and go fight some orcs.

Enjoy,

Kat.

NOTE: Because I used nail polish to varnish I had some sticking issued, but I used the buckle as a false buckle and had the real buckle tucked behind my jacket.

I also used way to much velcro to hold my costume together, I must have run out of hot glue at the time.

Dodgy last minute elf ears

Hi folks, so your going to be an elf and your ears haven't arrived or maybe its a last minuet thing. Here is an idea to help you achieve your elf look easily, quickly and at virtually no cost.

All you will need is;
Brown paper
Eyelash glue.

First cut out two triangles (mirrors of each other one for each ear) these can be as long or short as you need, depending on the look you are going for.

Next put a little eye lash glue on the bottom shorter edge on the triangle wait till tacky then squish that thing on your ear, like the picture show.

Then pick out a bit of hair to drape in front of your ear and go out elfing.
